Amatör fotoğrafçılık, kültürel geziler, uluslararası ilişkiler, jeopolitik, strateji, tarih, Kayıp Kıta Mu, arkeoloji, masa tenisi, trekking ve sinema gibi özel ilgi alanları bulunan Dr. Aktan; sürekli öğrenme ve gelişim prensibine inanmaktadır.
Özel sektördeki 3 yıllık mermer tecrübesinin ardından, Türkiye Kömür İşletmeleri Kurumu’nda 2006'dan beri çalışmakta olan Dr. Aktan, 2006-2010 yılları arasında Bursa Orhaneli'de Maden Mühendisi, Proje Mühendisi ve Etüt-Proje Başmüh.Vekili olarak çalıştıktan sonra Ankara'ya tayin olmuştur. Ankara'da 2011-2019 yılları arasında Genel Müdür Danışmanı, 2016-2022 yılları arasında Strateji Geliştirme ve Dış İlişkiler Müdürü, 2022-2023 Mart arasında da Ar-Ge Müdürü olarak çalıştıktan sonra Kamu görevinden istifa ederek özel sektöre geçiş yapmıştır.
2023 Mart'tan itibaren Ege Trade AŞ'de Maden Grubu Direkörü olarak görevine devam etmektedir.
Hacettepe Üniv.Maden Müh.liği bölümünde lisans, yüksek lisans ve Doktora eğitimini tamamlayan Dr. Aktan, kömür projelerine ait kaynak kestirimi, optimizasyon, maden ekonomisi, saha değerleme ve fizibilite konularında çalışmalar yapmaktadır.

A distinguished Mining Executive and Consultant with over 20 years of high-level experience in the energy and mining sectors. He currently serves as the Mining Group Director at Ege Trade Co., managing major lignite coal operations in Türkiye, and operates as a freelance consultant specializing in economic risk-based modeling and strategic planning.
With a deep expertise in feasibility studies, due diligence, and project valuation, Dr. Aktan possesses a robust understanding of economic modeling and project value drivers. He served as a Technical Consultant to the Board of Turkish Coal Enterprises for over eight years and played a pivotal role in the coordination and preparation of Türkiye’s 10th and 11th Development Plans and Strategic Plans of TKI&MENR (2019-2023) as part of expert working groups on energy and coal.
His international experience includes a significant tenure working with Palaris (Australia) on major coal projects under JORC 2012 standards (2011–2017). Dr. Aktan is also a recognized industry leader in governance and standards; he is a member of the UMREK and UMVAL Subcommittees, where he contributed to the drafting of Türkiye’s first Mineral Properties Valuation Codes. Since 2022, he has represented Türkiye in the Coal Subgroup of the Global Methane Initiative (GMI) based in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Aktan holds a PhD in Mining Economics from Hacettepe University, with a thesis focused on "Real Options Valuation of Coal Gasification Products." He is a Certified Internal Auditor with expertise in ISO 9001, ISO 50001, and ISO 14001 management systems. Additionally, he actively contributes to the sector through his writing for Enerji Günlüğü and Madencilik Türkiye, and serves as the Chairman of the YERMAM Education Commission.
